Its entrepreneurial perspective encourages students, staff and faculty to challenge convention, lead discovery and explore new ways of learning. At UBC, bold thinking is given a place to develop into ideas that can change the world.
The program is a partnership between the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Statistics, which are consistently ranked in the top three nationally and have excellent international reputations. These two disciplines are at the centre of Data Science, so the partnership provides a comprehensive approach for students.
Using the active and flexible learning techniques employed by both Departments, students work with real-world data and put their theories into practice. With their combined expertise in data management, analysis, visualization and software development, these two Departments ensure that the UBC Master of Data Science is in a league of its own.
